Juliette Black is based in Newcastle/London and is a recent 2026 graduate of Newcastle University (BA Fine Arts).

Making is archiving. I’m interested in who gets to write history and who gets to retell it. Which things get remembered, and which do not.

My current project, We Used to Dance in Technicolour, is a multimedia exploration that animates an archive to explore the fading memory of a once-thriving community. Drawing on the history of La Dolce Vita nightclub in Newcastle, the work inhabits a space between documentation and fiction, constructing an unstable dialogue with a past that is gradually disappearing from cultural memory.

Recent shows of hers have been exhibited across the UK.
